Inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people starts with understanding the history of this land – and with so much rich Aboriginal history all around us in Melbourne, the Jobsbank team took the opportunity to visit the Koorie Heritage Trust for a guided tour of Birrarung Marr this week.
Lucas, with great humour and warmth, taught us the innovative ways that people of the Kulin nation used their land sustainably, about the history of the River of Mists, and about the profound and enduring connection to country Aboriginal Victorians continue to honour today.
Inclusion is a continuous journey of learning, reflecting and adapting, and Jobsbank is committed to continuing to this ongoing learning to grow in our inclusivity. Inclusive organisations are not only more productive – they produce happier, more loyal and creative workforces.
