An advocate for progressive policies and responsible, sustainable business practices, Jobsbank announced today its support for the implementation of the Voice to Parliament.
“We have a transformative opportunity to enhance democratic representation for Indigenous peoples – a step that will contribute to a more equitable and inclusive Australia,” said Jobsbank CEO Dr Karina Davis. “Our Board is supporting the Yes vote to the upcoming referendum, as it would provide Indigenous Australians with a platform to express their opinions and actively participate in shaping legislation that directly affects their communities.”
“These are perspectives crucial to addressing systemic challenges and designing effective policies; we think this pathway would foster unity, understanding and ultimately economic growth and prosperity for all.”
Jobsbank’s latest research findings have identified the importance of co-designing and building equity through community participation. Active representation empowers communities as they are acknowledged and positioned as core to the discussion and essential to the building of successful solutions. Additionally, the organisation has been monitoring the implementation of the Social Procurement Framework; since its launch, it has created systemic shifts, removing barriers to employment. As a result of good policymaking, more Indigenous people now have access to employment, career plans and business ownership.
While Jobsbank supports a YES position, it acknowledges and honours various stakeholders’ views and perspectives in its ecosystem. The organisation will continue promoting open and respectful conversations and invites everyone to make informed decisions based on credible resources.
