Melbourne Food + Drink CEO Anthea Loucas Bosha on inclusive employment

It’s not exactly controversial to say the past two years have been no picnic for the events industry, particularly in Melbourne. And if your events are based around food and hospitality, it’s been even tougher.

But from every obstacle comes an opportunity, and few people know how to make the most of those opportunities like Anthea Loucas Bosha.

After a storied run as editor of legendary Australian magazine Gourmet Traveller, in 2018 Anthea was announced as CEO of Melbourne Food + Drink, and set about making one of Victoria’s flagship events even better.

And after two years of disruption, one of the most anticipated events in the culinary calendar, the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, made its triumphant return.

The festival served up more than 100 events over 10 days; the passionate MFWF team working with commitment and enthusiasm to help showcase our world class produce, chefs, cafes, restaurants, and bars.

Front and centre of Anthea and her team’s vision for the festival is ensuring it gives as many people as possible a chance to be part of the food and hospitality industries’ recovery.

For the Festival, inclusive employment isn’t a COVID-inspired goal. Since 2018, MFWF has also been working towards becoming a more inclusive employer, and recently brought Jobsbank on board to be part of their journey toward building the pathways that enable people facing barriers to employment to access the festival’s roles.

In between events and her busy schedule, in festival week Anthea took a (small) break to share the experience of opening employment opportunities to those who need them most. We’re thrilled to be working with the Food + Drink team.
